Chris Sadler has
been an entrepreneurial standout for
most of his life. He graduated from
high school in 1980 and went on to earn
a B.B.A. in marketing and management
from Baylor University. His studies
included a concentration in
entrepreneurship and accounting. While
in college full-time, he also operated a
silk screening business—a feat that
landed him a feature spot in U.S. News
and World Report and a guest appearance
on ABC’s Good Morning America that
highlighted young entrepreneurs.
The drive to be his
own boss started early for Chris. He
was born with a deep, burning desire to
be an entrepreneur long before he knew
or understood what the word meant. At a
very young age, in his hometown of
Dallas, Texas, Chris learned the basics
of supply and demand from his homemade
lemonade stand. By age 12 he’d
graduated to pedaling his bike through
the streets of Big D throwing papers
from the canvas satchel on his back, and
at age 16 he owned and operated his own
lawn-care business. Early on he
discovered first-hand how to appreciate
the meaning of revenue, expenses and
“the bottom line.” More importantly, he
learned that the business values of
integrity, commitment, a strong work
ethic, the pursuit of excellence and
teamwork are the key ingredients for
achieving long-term success in
business. These experiences began to
form the bedrock of business knowledge
that cemented Chris’ love of
entrepreneurship, “where the sky is the
limit and dreams really can become
reality.”
After selling the
silk screening business in 1990 and
participating in a start-up
environmental waste treatment solutions
business, he joined Cord Communications,
Inc., a global educational publisher and
professional development company, as its
vice president of business development
and operations. He helped build that
company to more than $8.5 million in
annual revenues but eventually found his
way back to the entrepreneurial arena as
president of Capstone Investor Group, a
venture capital firm that pursued
acquisitions and capital investment
opportunities. He currently serves as
CEO and partner of American Guaranty
Title and owns, with his wife, a
tremendously successful interiorscape
company, Plantscapers, which they are in
the process of franchising. He most
recently joined the Findley Group as
President and Chief Operating Officer.
Chris has been
married to Susan for more than 20 years
and they have two children. He and his family
attend First Baptist Church Woodway
where they participate in several areas
of ministry. He is the executive vice
president on the board of the Waco
Family YMCA, serves as president of the
Community Cancer Association, is a
committee chairperson for the Waco
Chamber of Commerce and is on the
steering committee for the Community
Visioning Project of Waco. He loves
singing, playing drums and sports of all
kinds.
